Cuttack: The 3rd Cuttack Mahotsav, International Dance and Music festival 2012, was inaugurated in the Millennium city of Cuttack on Wednesday.
The evening witnessed dance performances by dancers of National and International repute like Meera Das, Irina Komissarova from Russia, Ganna Smirnova from Ukraine, Quiahui Fuentes from Mexico and Dr. Siri Rama from Singapore and L. Murugasankari from Chennai.
The seven-day dance festival includes eight styles of Indian Classical dance forms (Solo, Duet & Group) like Bharatnatyam, Kuchpudi, Mohaniattam, Kathakalli, Odissi, Kathak, Manipuri and Sattriya besides Mahari and contemporary dances and Indian Classical Music like Hindustani, Karnataki, Odissi, Thumri-Dadra & Instrumental music by Parastoo Moradi and Group.
The festival would be held at Sahid Bhawan in all days except in January 8 when it would be presented at the Heritage Hall of the Ravenshaw University. The event is organised by Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangha.
Among others Mayor of Cuttack Soumendra Ghosh, Commissioner Rabi Narayan Nanda, Dr. S. K. Tamotia, Major General B.K. Mohapatra, General Secretary of Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangha, Mr. Kartik Rath graced the occasion.
The Dance festival will conclude on 10th January 2012.
