Bhubaneswar: The Kandhamal police on Monday arrested Junesh Pradhan, a BJD leader of Daringbadi area, in connection with the recent landmine blast on Kotagad-Srirampur road under Kotagad police limits, which killed three policemen on the spot and seriously injured three.
It may be noted that Pradhan was elected as a samiti member from Greenbadi panchayat in the last panchayat elections. He was later elected as the chairman of the panchayat samiti.
SP of Kandhamal J N Pankaj said Pradhan had links with the landmine blast over which they have strong evidence. Refusing to reveal out details, he said more facts will come out after thorough investigation.
The Congress here condemned the BJD and described Pradhan’s arrest as “Exposure of the ruling party’s true colours”. “The arrest of Junesh Pradhan establishes the BJD’s link with the Maoists, who have been killing police personnel and innocent villagers at will,” the Congress said in a press statement.
