Bhubaneswar: A group of Sabar Sahi slum women ransacked a licensed country liquor shop at Rasulgarh on Monday.
The women stormed into the shop armed with sticks and brooms. They destroyed liquor worth over Rs 1 lakh. The slum women demanded immediate relocation of the shop from the locality as they face family disturbances, said source.
Moreover, the liquor shop owner Ramakanta Pradhan lodged an FIR but no arrest was made till evening.
Bhubaneswar Excise Superintendent Laxmidhar Behera rushed to the spot and wrote a letter to the excise commission, seeking security for licensed liquor shops in the city.
“Licensed liquor shops are often coming under attack in the city. One such shop was recently destroyed in Kharavel Nagar,” said Behera.
