Bhubaneswar: The JD Centre of Art (JDCA) has organised its 6thNational Short and Documentary Film Festival on Art and Artist today at the IDCOL auditorium, Bhubaneswar. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Governor of Odisha Shri M C Bhandare.
The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Celebrating and Reminiscing Masters.’
This year’s festival’s highlights are films on eminent painters like MF Hussain, Jehangir Sabavala, musicians like Asad Ali Khan, film maker Mani Kaul and potter Devi Prasad.
As many as 30 films will be screened. Feature film ‘Makar Manju’ on Artist Ravi Varma by Rajendran Lenin, Shahji N Karun will present his film ‘Waiting’. ‘Meeting Hussain’ (2008 Dubai) by Bidisha Roy Das will be presented during the festival.
‘Anwesan’ – a documentary on Fakir Mohan Senapati- the Purodha of Modern Odia Literature was screened today.
Apart from film screening, the JDCA Film Forum will also organise seminars, workshops, discussions in a holistic manner that promotes Odisha arts, crafts and cuisine. As many as 20 stalls of traditional handicrafts, handlooms, publications and objects of art were also displayed.
It is noteworthy to mention that it is the only National film festival dedicated to Art and Artists in the country organised in collaboration with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Films Division, NDFC and Directories of Film Festivals Government of India, ICCR, UNESCO, Department of Culture and Tourism, Government of Odisha.
The Film Festival will continue till January 13, 2012.
