Cuttack: Mohammedan Sporting of Kolkata defeated Vasco Sports Club of Goa by 2-1 goals in the final of the All India Kalinga Cup Football Tournament at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Saturday evening and bagged the trophy.
J Alfred of the Md. Sporting (Kolkata) scored the first goal at the 46thminute, and took the lead for his team.
However Vasco SC equalised the goal with Isa Alli scoring the first goal for his team at the 52nd minute.
Later Stanley Cyprin of Md Sporting scored a goal for his side at the 77th minute, thereby leading his team to victory.
Subrat Dutta, Vice-President of All India Football Federation gave away the prestigious Kalinga Cup Trophy to Md. Sporting (Kolkata), along with a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs. Vasco SC received the runners-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs.
Among others, Saswat Mishra, State Sports Director, Ashirbad Behera, Secretary, Odisha Olympic Association, Debashish Samantray and Sanjay Behera were present on the occasion.
