Bhubaneswar: The State Government has notified a uniform policy for the students in its medical colleges to sign a bond promising to work for the Government for three years after they pass out of college.

As per the resolution notified by the Health and Family Welfare Department, all medical degree-holder from the Government medical colleges are to work for at least first three years in the Schedule Areas, particularly in the KBK region and it is complusory for all medical students.

The agreement would be applicable to the students in the courses of BDS, MBBS, Super specialty, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM). The MBBS and BDS students who refuse to comply, would have to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh while for PG and Super specialty would have pay Rs 10 lakh and 15 lakh, repectively.
