Bhubaneswar: The three-day cultural event, Mukteswar Dance Festival kicked off in the State Capital at the Mukteswar Temple Premises, Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The evening opened with the recitation of Shiva Vandana “Namami Sami Sanaha Nirvana Rupam” presented by the students of
Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya.
The inaugural evening showcased the solo recital by Odissi danseuse Smt. Aloka Kanungo and duet by the young and promising duo Pravat Kumar Swain and Arupa Gayatri Panda of Odissi Dance Akademi.
A group show ‘Manabhanjana’, based on the relationship between Lord Krishna and Radha was presented by the artistes of the Bhubaneswar-based Art Vision group. It was choreographed by Padmashree Illeana Citaristi.
Among others Naresh Gujural, MP (RS), Sarat Pujari, President Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, eminent singer and musician Prafulla Kar, noted art critic Dr. Sunil Kothari, Ashok K Tripathy, Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Vishal Dev, BMC Commissioner were present.
The second evening of the festival will witness the solo recital by Rahul Acharya and duet by Chittaranjan Acharya and Asmita Acharya. A group show will be presented by city based-Rudrakshya Dance Academy.
The third evening of the festival will witness the solo recital by Madhusmita Mohanty and duet by Canada-based brother-sister duo Devraj and Ellora Patnaik. A group show will be presented by Jyoti Srivastav and Group of Vaishali Kala Kendra, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The festival is being organised by Department of Tourism, Odisha and will conclude on 16th January 2012.
