Jagatsinghpur: The week long 13th book fair organized by Jagatsinghpur Sanskrutika Parishad began at the Collector Parade Ground here on Sunday.
Former Vice-chancellor Utkal Sanskruti University, Dr. Bimalendu Mohanty inaugurated this week long fair.
Speaking on the inaugural occasion, Mr Mohanty praised the organizers for hosting such a fair in Jagatsinghpur since the past 13 years. “Book fair has inspired reading habit among people, meantime publishers have tempted to publish more books. The Book fair has become a yearly affair in each district across the State. Many organizations are hosting book fairs in their block and Tehsil headquarters, which indicates that reading habit still exists among people”, Mr. Mohanty said.
Participating in the occasion, eminent artist and stage actor Asim Basu lauded the importance of books in the life of people and asked the attending audience to purchase at least one book from the fair only to encourage the organizers
and participant book seller’s endeavor.
Several noted publishers, book sellers across the State have participated in the fair as many as 64 stalls have been erected. Eminent writers, intellectuals and social activists have been invited to deliver talk during the fair.
Apart from this colorful cultural functions, literary discourse have been fixed for each day, informed organizer secretary Bhagaban Das.
