Bhubaneswar: The inaugural ceremony of Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGFC) in Odisha, was held today at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
The theme of OGCF-2012 is “SAVE FUEL YAANI SAVE MONEY”.
The program was inaugurated by Shri G Mathi Vathanan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Energy, Govt. Of Odisha.
Mr. Vathanan in his inaugural speech, stressed upon the need to conserve petroleum products.
Sri P K Das, General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and State level coordinator for oil industries in Odisha, threw light on the activities planned to create awareness about oil and gas conservation in the State.
During the Fortnight, various training programs will be conducted for drivers on better driving habits to save fuel. Similarly, workshops will be conducted for house wives to save LPG.
Apart from this quiz, debate and painting competitions will also be organised in schools and colleges to emphasize on the importance of conservation.
Amongst others, Sri P S S Rabindranath, SRM, HPCL, Sri Rajiv Sikka, Area Marketing Manager, BPCL, Shri B B Patra, SISM (Lubes), OSO and Sri A K Mohini, Dy. Director, PCRA were present.
A Walkathon was organised on this occasion which was flagged of by Shri Vathanan. Many school children and employees of Oil industries had participated.
It is noteworthy to mention that the function will be celebrated throughout India from January 16 to January 31, 2012. The function is organised by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Department of Energy, Govt. of India, in collaboration with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA).
