Cuttack: After the adulteration of milk and food in the State, another shocking incident was seen at Cuttack, wherein Tangi Police on Tuesday busted a fake manufacturing unit, Tarini Traders at Madan Mohan Sahi.
Tangi Police seized adulterated products like skimmed milk powder, dairy whiteners, baby food items, desi ghee, pickles detergents, soap bars along with other edibles and consumables from the unit. The seized materials are estimated to be worth Rs 8-10 lakhs.
According to Sunil Mohanty, Inspector-in-charge of Tangi Police Station, 2 accused named Prabhat Nath, a storekeeper and Chabindra Nayak, owner of the unit were nabbed while the co-owner of the illicit unit named Hrushikesh Nayak, has managed to give the police a slip.
“We have recovered empty unused packets and pouches of milkpowders and baby food as Amul Spray, Amulya Dairy Milk, Durga brand desi ghee, detergent pouches and soap covers of Wheel, talcum powder like Ponds, Nycil, pickles, biscuits. Raw materials like synthetic powders, colors and fragrances have also been seized from the spot”, said Mohanty.
Adding more Mohanty said, “we are now going deep into the supply chain to determine the extent of reach of the adulterated items.”
Meanwhile, a case has been registered in this context and hunt for Hrushikesh is on, sources said
