Cuttack: The Odisha High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Subhashree Panda alias Mili Panda (40), wife of noted Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda.

She is now under police custody for a case of 2003 registered against her in Gudari police station of Koraput district. Earlier, her bail applications were rejected by a local lower court.

The single-judge Bench of Justice Koraput rejecting the bail plea of Mili Panda asked the lower court to complete the trail of the case as soon as possible.

Panda in her bail application had pointed out that police are keeping her in illegal confinement, although her name had not figured in the related case which was registered by the Gudari police in January 2003 and charges were framed subsequently.

She had also claimed that after she obtained a favourable decision from the High Court recently pertaining to the Nayagarh incident, the police tagged her falsely into the case of 2003 and trail of other accused in the case were over since long.
