Cuttack: A two-day National Conference on “Women Rights in Odisha: Culture, Politics and Development” is being organised by the Political Science Department of Ravenshaw University on January 22 2012.
As said by Professor Niranjan Barik, HOD, Pol Sc Dept. Ravenshaw University and Convenor of the Conference, the Conference will discuss issues like “Role of Women in Social Movements”, “Domestic Violence against Women”, “Land Rights of Women”, “Feminist Perspective of Development during these two days.
“The Conference aims to sensitize the students and teachers in particular and the public in general about women rights and women development at a time when the state is grappling with issues of violence and atrocities against women,” said Dr Asima Sahu, the Co-ordinator of Women Studies and Associate Professor of Political Science of Ravenshaw University.
Great academics and feminist activists like Professor Manoranjan Mohanty, Bidyut Mohanty, Asha Hans, Kalpana Kannabiran, Laxmi Lingam, Ishita Mukhopadhyay, K.B. Saxena and Professor Haragopal will be attending the conference.
The conference is being organized by the Political Science Department, Ravenshaw University in collaboration with the Gabeshana Chakra, Odisha and Sansristi, Bhubaneswar.
