Bhubaneswar: The the city level winners of the East Zone of the 5th Annual ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition – 2010-11’, were felicitated today, at IDCOl House, Bhubaneswar.
The winners were selected from a competitive pool of students through 14 different city level competitions conducted in 2 cities for English and 12 cities for Odia language.
The English edition of the essay competition was held in Odisha with 62 schools participating while the Odia edition, introduced for the first time this year, saw enthusiastic participation from 375 schools from across 12 cities in Odisha. Both the editions attracted a total of nearly 1.8 lakh students.
The Chief guests of the event, Padma Bhusan award winner Proffessor, Trilochan Pradhan and Padmashri award winner Mr. Chatrabhuj Meher, awarded trophies and gift certificates to the winners. The winning essays at the city level will be further judged by a prominent jury for national level recognition.
Tata Building India School Essay Competition is a unique initiative undertaken by the Tata group of companies to motivate the youths of India towards thinking about nation building. The essay competition provides a unique platform to encourage young leaders of tomorrow to showcase their expressions in writing, on a host of subjects related to nation building.
