People gathering at the pledge festival are administered oath of allegiance to the constitution
New Delhi: As many as 12,000 students on their sense of hatred against corruption and terrorism and also their love for the country came out alive when posters made by them were put to public display at Gandhi Darshan on Saturday here as part of pledge festival organised by civil society Build India Group in collaboration with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti.

The festival was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi’s grand daughter and Vice Chairperson of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, witnessed a cultural event performed by about 70 students from six different educational institutions on theme ‘How to promote emotional integration in the country’.

Delhi High Court Judge, Justice Kailash Gambhir administered the oath of allegiance to the constitution to prominent lawyers, judges, academicians and students gathered at the function in Hindi and English.

The pledge in English reads “We the people of India today do solemnly pledge ourselves to the service of our nation; with honesty, sincerity and commitment always keeping our nation’s interest paramount in all that we think do or say for the greater glory of this land.”

This festival is celebrated at various places across the country on the third Saturday of January when students, conscious citizens and civil society organisations recite pledge in their mother tongue and hold cultural activities on nationalism as the theme to promote emotional integration in the country, founder president of Build India Group, Biraja Mahapatra said.

As a part of the celebrations held at various parts of the country, the participating institutions here included National Foundation for Communal Harmony under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mewar University, Apeejay School, Seikh Sarai, A G DAV School, Model Town, M B DAV School, Yusuf Sarai, Sun valley International, Vaishali, City Prince Public School, Khichripur, Mahapatra said.
