Researchers at Georgia Technology have designed a novel machine, search and rescue robot named as Scalybot 2, a snake like structure robot that can move across large distances without using much energy.
Georgia Technology’s Mechanical Engineering student, Hamid Marvi informed that the movement of snakes which are known for their flexibility and efficiency, and based on this study they developed this machine.
Marvi further informed that a snake does not have to twist its body to move across the ground. It simply lifts its ventral scales and pushes itself in the forward direction by transmitting a muscular wave from its head to tail. Likewise, this Scalybot 2 robot adjusts the angle of its scales automatically when it comes across different kinds of slopes.
The robot can move backward and forward. It can be controlled with the help of a remote controlled Joystick.
