Berhampur: As many as 18 Post-Graduate (PG) Medical Students were booked using unfair means during the PG Medical Entrance Examination held here on Sunday.
It may be noted that 16 students were caught with mobile phones while two for exchanging answers. The thorough checking of the examination was carried out at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) here by Director, Medical Education and Training (DMET) Dr. P K Dash and Joint Director Dr. Sitaram Mohapatra, who scratched the answer sheets of the PG students disallowing them to continue appearing for the examination.
As per sources, every year, entrance examination for 200 PG seats in three medical colleges is held by the DMET. While the DMET is the chairman of the entrance committee, medical colleges are handed with the job of convening the examination. This year, MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, was the convener.
The mode of examination with multiple choice questions is such that mere talks can influence results and deprive a deserving candidate from getting selected, said Mohapatra.
