Bhubaneswar: The Guinness Book of World Records has confirmed the spectacular show by 555 Odissi dancers at the opening of the largest Odissi dance confluence- International Odissi Festival, on December 23, 2011 at Kalinga Stadium here as a world record.
“This is just to confirm that I have approved your attempt as a current world record,” Fast Track Guinness World Records Limited records manager Kristian Teufel said in a letter to President of Indian Performing Arts Promotions (IPAP) Pratap Das.
Das was the organiser of the mega event with the active support of the Department of Tourism and Culture, Government of Odisha, where 555 Odissi dancers performed to set a world record.
Principal Secretary Ashok Kumar Tripathy was instrumental in organising the mega event supported by his team. Das has urged Tripathy to organise a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after the panchayat elections for officially handing over the Guinness Book of World Records Certificate.
