Bird Flu: Culling of birds ends at Betanoti
Mayurbhanj: After completion of the culling process in Khurda district, mass culling of birds in Betanoti block of Mayurbhanj district ended on Monday with as many as 11,216 poultry birds including ducks and crows killed in five days.

Nearly 90 per cent birds were culled and eggs destroyed in 32 villages including Mahulia, Bahanada, Udipura, Khamari, Chhatraypur, Chhachinapada, and Badchuruni under Betanoti block.

As per the direction of the State Government, the culling operation had started on January 18, 2012 within three km radius of Bahanada village and later it was extended to 32 villages.

Compensation for the poultry farmers and owners of birds were given by the Government.
