Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police on Monday achieved a great success after actively swung into action and rescued a 24-year-old girl near Barang on the outskirts of the city and arrested the kidnappers who mercilessly threw her out of their running car.

According to the police sources, the kidnappers were three students of a private engineering college in the city and identified them as Sunil Rao, Pabitra Behera and Sagar Biswal. First two of them are from Berhampur while the other is from Angul.

As per sources, the kidnappers insisted the girl, who was in the city for an interview, to give lift saying the interview place was shifted to Barang. She then got herself firmly perched in the back seat and the car sped towards Barang. As the car sped on, the girl screamed for a help and hoping that somebody might come to help her. Fearful, the kidnappers gave her sedatives to stop her from shouting and threw her out of the running car at Mendhasala. The locals rushed to the spot and took the girl to the nearby hospital for treatment and informed the police to hunt the accused.

“The PCR vans kept chasing the car and arrested the accused, including the driver, near Mendhasala,” Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjeet Singh said.
