Bhubaneswar: The 2nd National Voter’s Day was celebrated on the occasion of the foundation day of Election Commission of India, at IDCOL Auditorium, Bhubaneswar today, with the objective to increase enrollment of voters and spread awareness among voters regarding effective participation in the electoral process.
The function was inaugurated by Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Shri M C Bhandare.
Hon’ble Governor Shri Bhandare distributed Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to the newly registered voters of the local polling station areas.
Apart from this a Pledge was taken by all those citizens present in the function.
Among others, Shri A K Tripathy, State Election Commissioner, Shri B K Patnaik, Chief Secretary, Odisha, Shri Justice R K Patra, Chairman, Human Rights Commission, Odisha, Shri S. Srinivasan, Chief Electoral Officer, Govt. of Odisha, Roopa Mishra, Collector, Khurda were present along with newly registered electors.
It is noteworthy to mention that the function is celebrated at over 27, 793 polling locations all over the State.
