Bhubaneswar: In a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Mr. B K Patnaik on Tuesday, it was decided that all the major roads leading to Puri should be four-laned before the ‘Nabakalevara’ of Lord Jagannath in 2015.

Furthermore it was decided that a special cell will be set up in the Works Department to monitor the timely completion of the project, which will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 660 crore.

In the previous review meeting held in May last year, it was decided that the parking lots, boarding facilities in and around Puri town including the dharmasalas, intensive care units and trauma care centres and all the community health centres and public centres need to be strengthened keeping in mind an estimated devotees of around 50 lakhs during the grand festival.

Mr. Patnaik directed the DGP to prepare measures keeping in mind the possible threat and to install close circuit TVs and watchtowers at strategic location to monitor the movement of the crowd.

Apart from this it was decided that a movement plan will be chalked out for crowd management to avoid stampede.
