Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday has announced that there will be no reconsideration of the directive on barring candidates for sarpanch, panchayat samiti and ward samiti and ward on taking the support of any political party while campaigning.

The SEC had issued the directive on January 19. However it is noteworthy to mention that five political parties namely, the CPI, CPM, Forward Bloc, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Samajwadi Party in a memorandum had requested a reconsideration of the directive or to ensure that the directive is followed by every one including the BJD and should not be a spectator when it is not followed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, BJD MPs, Ministers and MLAs.
