Cuttack: A team of experts from New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has arrived in Odisha on Saturday to examine the state of the victim and assist the Crime Branch in the Pipili gangrape case.
The 4 member team of leading doctors in forensic medicine, gynecology, DNA and toxicology examined the girl at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The 19-year-old was allegedly gangraped Nov 28 by some people near her village Arjunagoda barely 10 km from this capital city and is in a coma stage since then.
The shocking incident came to light recently when the girl was denied proper treatment at a hospital and some journalists reported on her. The incident has created a political storm, prompting Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy to resign on Jan 19 on moral grounds after the opposition and the girl’s family alleged that he had protected the accuseds.
Meanwhile as a part of its probe, Crime Branch has already conducted polygraph tests on all the four accused persons allegedly involved in this case. They who had been taken to CB custody in different phases for interrogation are now lodged in a sub-jail in Nimapada.
