Mr. Patnaik visited his injured minister at Kalinga Hospital
The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condemned attack on the Panchayati Raj Minister Mr. Maheswar Mohanty, who has been injured severely by attack in Puri during a meeting of BJD Party workers. Mr. Patnaik visited his injured minister at Kalinga Hospital and inquired about his health.

“I am deeply shocked over the terrible attack on the Minister. It is most unhealthy and unfortunate practice of violence in a democracy”, the Chief Minister said after visiting the Minister.

Besides the CM, a number of ministers, MLAs and senior officers also visited the minister and enquired about his health condition.

As per sources, a young man Balabhadra Bhoi alias Mahari, disguised as a woman in saree, suddenly came close to the minister, and hit him on his head several times with a crow bar before he could be overpowered by the party workers. He was later handed over to the local police.

Meanwhile, the police has arrested another person named, Bhubananda Sarangi, the father of Brahmagiri Youth Congress President Kaliprasasd Sarangi, after interrogating Bhoi.

Both Bhoi and Sarangi were forwarded to the court of Puri sub-divisional judicial magistrate A K Jena. Mr. Jena after refusing their bail plea, remanded them in jail custody for 14 days.
