Jagatsinghpur: Sk Kalim Ulla, a candidate from Krishnanadapur under Tirtol block is contesting for the Panchayat Samiti member from the jail.

Confinement does not deter and affect his prospects or his campaign which is being efficiently managed by his supporters outside the jail. Moreover being behind the bars earns him much needed sympathy from his Samiti constituency voters and public. He had been in jail since June 2011 on charges of a murder case.

Report said that his supporters took his signature for filing nomination papers from jail and after proper securitization his paper was declared as valid and allowed to go on elections.

Kalim was reportedly former Samiti member elected from Krushnanandapur Panchayat in the year 2007 but he shot in to limelight in murder case happened in his village 2011 and the deceased Sanwar Ali alias Sona during his death statement at SCB Medical College and Hospital Cuttack had revealed Kalim was involved in the crime. As a consequence police picked him up as the accused and since then he is in Alipingala sub jail five km away from Jagatsinghpur.

On the other hand supporters vehemently deny Kalim’s involvement in the alleged crime they claim Kalim has been scape goat when the prime accused persons have fled after the crime.

Sources said Kalim is keeping a close watch on his election campaign from inside the jail and every development in the Panchayat is convened to him at earliest.
