Rourkela: Two hardcore Maoists were arrested from Barsuan forest area in Sundargarh district during a joint search operation by CRPF, Special Operation Group and Rourkela Police on Tuesday.

The two rebels have been identified as Birabal Gudia (23) and Chandradev Tirkey alias Charu (24) were nabbed while they were moving on a road in Barsuan forest area.

Both were involved in several Maoist violence in Odisha. Both were produced before a local court which remanded them to jail custody.

Combing operations at several strategic locations are being carried out on a regular basis in the locality in an effort to put a check on Maoist operations, sources said.
