Bhubaneswar: In a bid to widen the horizons of higher education for meeting demands, the State Government has decided to add two more streams to the conventional streams of Arts, Science and Commerce in all degree colleges.
The Higher Education Department has decided to split the Science stream to two namely Physical Science and Biological Science and add one more stream called Self-financing for the first time. All the honours and pass subjects will come under these five streams.
While Physics as an honours subject will come under Physical Science, Information Technology, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Micro Biology, mathematics with Computer Science and Electronics and Telecommunication will come under Self-financing stream.
The Department has also decided to discard the second selection procedure in admissions toboth junior and degree colleges from 2012-13 academic session. The admission process will be completed in four rounds like first selection admission, SC/ST extension admission, spot selection and admission after supplementary examinations.
Further more it was decided that no transfer of students will be entertained in the colleges after the scheduled dates of normal admission in second and third year classes from the next academic session. Admissions will only be allowed in case of retirement and transfer of Government, PSUs and banking sector staff as well as marriage of girl students, after being approved by the Government.
