Bhubaneswar: Replying to the show cause notice of the State Election Commission (SEC), the PCC on Friday denied violating the Model Code of Conduct for the Panchayat polls. The Congress had taken three days time to reply to the notice.
The three-page reply of the Congress was submitted by PCC Vice-President, Sibananda Ray. The Congress reasoned mentioning about corruption charges against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other ministers in its manifesto as old issues and that all these have already been published by newspapers.
It is noteworhty to mention that the (SEC) on Tuesday had issued notice to the Congress asking to explain the contents in the manifesto which contained serious charges of corruption levelled against 14 Ministers of BJD, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had urged the SEC to ban the manifesto published by the Congress for the coming Panchayat polls describing it as offensive.
