Bolangir: Odia woman cricketer Madhuri Mehta has secured her place in the 15-member Indian Women Cricket team. She is the first cricketer from the State to represent the nation.
She would soon join Team India to tour West Indies. The team is scheduled to play three ODI’s and five T20 Internationals during the month-long tour.
Captain of the Bolangir district women cricket team, Madhuri was chosen to represent the State only last year. Later she was picked up in the East Zone squad.
A product of the National Cricket Academy, Madhuri scored 36 runs and 40 runs respectively against Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka in the All India T20 Championship. She is a specialist bats woman in the middle-order.
The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has announced a cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh for Madhuri.
