Jagatsinghpur: With the D-Day approaching for the panchayat poll, elaborate arrangements have been made at Jagatsinghpur to ensure incident free election.
As many as 103 candidates from several political parties and independents are contesting for the 26 Zilla Parishad seats spread across Jagatsinghpur district.
While the Sarpanch election for the Posco region, Dhinkia Grama Panchayat has been deferred, election for other posts will be held as scheduled. The electorates of Dhinkia village will cast their votes in Trilochanpur booth
and Govindipur villagers will go Nuagaon booth to exercise their franchise, collector said.
For maintaining the law and order situation during elections, 870 police personnel’s and 93 officers have been assigned in the job. While five senior police officers will monitor these junior cops duties, taking geographic views, five police zones have been formed in district. Senior cops will watch the law and order conditions from these zones.
Apart from this, 12 motor boats have been proposed to press into service in villages that lacks surface connection. Voting will start from 7 am to 12 noon and booth wise counting would be held in polling stations on the polling day. However official declaration of results will be deferred till the end of election process.
