Bhubaneswar: Representatives of five political parties namely CPI, CPI (M), Samajwadi Party, Forward Block and RJD criticizing the distorted report submitted by SCW’s Chairperson Dr.Jyoti Panigrahy on the politically sensitive Pipili gangrape case, submitted memorandums to His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Shri M C Bhandare today at Raj Bhawan, demanding her resignation so as to ensure the safety and the dignity of the victim in particular and the women community of the State in general.

Citing the report submitted by Dr. Panigrahy as shameful, the Party’s asked how come Dr. Panigrahy released such a report that no rape had occurred when the mother of the victim has repeatedly told before the media that her daughter was twice gangraped and the Crime Branch and the Judicial enquiry into the matter is still going on.

The Parties also pointed finger at the competency and technical qualifications of Dr. Panigrahy to submit an accurate report, that would provide justice to the victim.

They further said that the sheer insensitivity with which the report was prepared and released has smacked of a political conspiracy in which the plight of the victim of the dalit community has been thrown to the winds.

Claiming that the release of such a report will influence the ongoing investigations, the parties urged the Governor to take appropriate steps so that the State Government rejects the said report and a CBI enquiry into the matter takes place.

Women protestors under the banner of Congress Mahila Morcha stormed the Odisha State Commission for Women office in the State Capital protesting its stand on the Pipili gangrape case.
