Puri: Japanese couple Gino Naoki and Gino Gunko married in Odia style in Puri on Wednesday.
More than 70 Japanese friends of the couple accompanying with the locals were a part of the Barajatri, the procession escorting the groom to the marriage venue.
As a part of this unique marriage people were seen dancing and enjoying the marriage procession. The barajatri were welcomed with flower garlands and sandal tika on their reaching at the marriage venue.
While the Kanyadaan for the bride was done by Pramod Kumar Panda, a local resident, another person named Nageswar Patnaik performed the rituals on behalf of the groom’s family.
Marriage was conducted as per Hindu rituals by chanting mantras. The huge gathering present there broke to a roar of joy as the priest declared the couple as married.
After the wedding the couple and their friends danced together and took part in a lavish feast.
The entire arrangement for the marriage was organised by India-Japan Friendship Centre. People involved feel that this event will not only boost the town’s tourism but will also strengthen the ties between two countries.
