Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed the police and excise officials to remain alert and continue joint raids in suspected places throughout the State.
Mr. Patnaik who held a review meeting on Thursday evening at the State Secretariat on the situation arising out of the tragic deaths due to the alleged medicine-laced-liquor and the steps taken by the administration on this matter.
The meeting was told that Excise squads conducted raids in 27 places in Khurda and Cuttak districts and has arrested 27 persons. Epeecarm bottles were seized from two persons I Cuttack. As many as 20 bottles of Epeecarm and Cinnamon were seized in similar raid operations in Khurda.
Mr. Patnaik asked the Health, Excise and police department to destroy the particular batch of the medicine and to intensify public awareness not to consume the banned medicines.
Among others Chief Secretary B K Patnaik, Home Secretary Upendra Behera, Excise Secretary R K Sharma, Health Secretary Anu Garg, Police Commissioner B K Sharma were present in the meting.
