Bhubaneswar:In the first round of the ongoing Panchayat polls, out of 854 seats, 194 districts Zila Parisad polling has been ended. The result will be announced after the completion of the polling in all the seats. The candidates affiliated to ruling party BJD seem to be leading.
If the reports are to be believed, BJD is leading in majority of areas. Out of the total polling of 194 Zilla Parishad BJD is leading in 133, Congress in 31 and BJP in 6 Zilla Parishads respectively. Independent candidates are leading in 14 Zilla Parishads. The polls have been conducted in 20,289 booths in around 82 blocks covering 30 districts. Approximately 56 lakhs 26 thousand voters have executed their voting rights.
There have been some incidents in the first phase elections. In Puri ballot boxes of 2 booths of Baisibatiya, 2 booths of Kandidhar, 2 booths of Dagarisana, 2 booths of Khajaria and 1 booth of Sanapatana have been thrown to water. When the election official was asked about this he said, it has been informed to Odisha election commission and the re-election will be held in these booths.
In Malkangiri, after the incedent of the Maoist attack the polling has been postponed to 19th in 13 booths.Likewise polling could not be conducted in Bhandukonda of Malkangiri district.
According to the reports from Election Commissioners office,the total percentage of polling in different areas were 72% in Angul, 65% in Baleswar, 77% in Bargarh, 77% in Bhadrak, 55% in Bolangir, 65% in Boudh, 75% in Devgarh, 60% in Dhenkanal, 70% in Gajpati, 70% in Ganjam, 76% in Jagatsinghpur, 70% in Jajpur, 60% in Jharsuguda, 65% in Kalahandi, 62% in Kandhmal, 76% in Kendrapada, 80% in Kendujhar, 62% in Khurda, 61% in Koraput, 70% in Mayurbhanj, 53% in Nabarangpur, 73% in Nayagarh, 68% in Nuapada, 70% in Puri, 60% in Rayagarh, 66% in Sambalpur, 80% in Subarnapur and 67% polls in Sundargarh.
The second phase polls will be started from 13th of this month.
