Bhubaneswar: Chairperson of the State Commission for Women (SCW) Dr. Jyoti Panigrahi today said that the Commission will probe again into the much hyped Pipili gangrape case.

The announcement came after Odisha Governor MC Bhandare summoned SCW chairperson Jyoti Panigrahi on Saturday to Raj Bhawan to discuss on the controversial report and advised her to inquire more into the incident after reviewing the earlier report submitted by her.

Panigrahi in her report to the Member-Secretary of the National Commission for Women had mentioned that there was no allegation of rape in the FIR and no treatment was given for rape.

The report submitted by Dr. Panigrahi was criticised in all spheres. Representatives of five political parties namely CPI, CPI (M), Samajwadi Party, Forward Block and RJD had submitted memorandums to His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Shri M C Bhandare on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Dr. Panigrahi.

In their memorandum, they alleged that the report of the SCW regarding the issue of Pipili gang-rape was biased and fabricated and that it was meant more for defending the culprits rather than providing justice to the poor victim who has been in a coma stage since November 18, 2011.

Citing the report as painful the parties had said that the report betrayed the basic objective of the Commission whose work is to defend the dignity of women and to provide justice to the poor victims who succumb to exploitation and torture.
