Bhubaneswar: Statewide raids by the Excise Department continued to nab the culprits involved in the manufacturing and distribution of the spurious liquor that claimed as many as 34 lives.
According to a release by the Chief Minister’s office, as many 55 persons were arrested during the raids by Monday. Raids were also undertaken by the Drug control officials and police.
Chief Minister reviewed the situation on Tuesday. The three departments namely the Excise, the Health and the Commissionerate Police were asked to continue the raids to prevent reccurance any similar incident in future.
Now only 4 people who had consumed the digestive mixed with alcohol are being treated in Capital Hospital and Hi-tech Medical.
Among others Manmohan Praharaj, Deputy-General of Police, U N Behera, Principal Secretary, Home Department, Rajkumar Sharma, Pricipal Secretary, Excise, Anu Garg, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, B K Sharma, Police Commissioner, Saswat Mishra, Excise Commissioner and other senior officials were present.
