Puri: Dr. Gautam Sengupta, Director General of Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI)Director General Goutam Sengupta inspected the ongoing work of deplastering of the Jagamohan and the main entrance Lion’s Gate of the world famous Jagannath temple, on Wednesday.
Sengupta told media persons that the deplastering had exposed many voids in the Jagamohan and stainless steel beams would be used to fix those voids.
Stating that there is no imminent danger to the 12th century shrine Sengupta said, skilled workers are instructed to take utmost care during the de-plastering. He however said that it is difficult at this stage to predict when the work of deplastering would be completed.
Ashok Patel, the superintendent of ASI, Bhubanswar circle and the expert committee member G C Mitra accompanied Sengupta during the inspection.
