A Victim of Hooch Tragedy, Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: The Excise department officials have arrested as many as 635 people during statewide raids in 78 places, ever since the Hooch tragedy in Cuttack and Khurda district that claimed 34 lives earlier this month.

CM, Naveen Patnaik who held a high level review meeting on this issue on Friday was told that so far 980 places have been raided by the Excise department to curb the illicit liquor business in the State.

The State Health department officials also today raided 140 places and collected nearly 45 samples, which were sent to state drug Laboratory for testing.

The Commissionerate police also raided places in the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and has so far arrested 14 people in this context.

Home Secretary, Upendranath Behera, Principal Secretary, Excise, Rajkumar Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Aditya Prasad Padhi, Health Minister, Anu Garg, Police Commissioner, B K Sharma, and Excise Commissioner Saswat Mishra were present during the meeting.
