Paradip: As many as 20 workers were injured, eight of them critically, when the roof of a silo collapsed at an Indian Farmers Fertiliser Co-operative Limited (IFFCO) plant here today.

The steel and asbestos structure used for storing fertilisers about 150 meters long, 50 meters wide and 27 metre high collapsed today. Many are feared to be trapped under the rubble.

The injured were rushed in to a nearby hospitals. Those critical have been shifted to private hospitals in Cuttack, sources said.

Fire brigade, ambulance and emergency service personnel from IFFCO, Paradip Port Trust and the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) to provide necessary emergency treatment to the injured.
