Bhubaneswar: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Surya Narayan Patro on Wednesday informed that State Assembly that disbursement of drought relief assistance would start from today.

Patro said that according to the final assessment, there was crop loss of over 50 per cent in 13,063 villages under 2,057 Gram Panchayats spread over 134 blocks in 20 districts. Besides, over-50 per cent of crop loss has been reported from 156 wards covering 34 Urban Local Bodies (ULB).

During the Question Hour, replying to a question from Singh Saluja (Congress), Patro said that the State Government had received the crop cutting report from the Collectors. The State Government had announced drought package for the affected farmers. The assistance will be given as per the package announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
