Cuttack: Regional Director of the National SC and ST Commission, Dr. Diwakar Basak on Friday visited SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCB MCH) to enquire about the condition of the victim who is in a semi-coma stage since the incident.
In his second visit to the hospital within a month, Dr. Basak told mediapersons that he was satisfied with the treatment given to the victim, where experts from AIIMS, New Delhi and other neurologists and music therapists are attending to her. He however expressed his dissatisfaction over the investigation procedure of the police in this critical issue.
He pointed out the delay in filing of the chargesheet in the case by the investigating agency. The DGP should take steps to ensure speedy completion of investigation and filing of the chargesheet, Basak told.
It is noteworthy to mention that the Odisha Crime Branch police, who is investigating into the case since January 10 this year, have till now arrested all the four accused whose names figured in the FIR that was prepared by the police on January 9 after directions from the State Human Rights Commission.
Under attack for allegedly shielding the accused in the case, Agriculture Minister Pradip Maharathy had resigned on January 16 on “moral ground”.
