Jagatsinghpur: After spending about two months behind the bar, controversial contractor-cum-trade union leader Bapi Sarkhel was released from Samagola sub jail today.
Yesterday Orissa High Court had granted the bail application of Bapi Sarkhel and had directed him to appear before Judicial Magistrate First Class, [JMFC] court, Kujanga for seeking bail.
Acting on the event Bapi’s lawyer presented the High Court’s direction JMFC court today and applied for bail. Considering the bail plea JMFC granted bail to Bapi.
After the news reached in Kujanga and Paradip, hundreds of his supporters converged at Samagola jail premises. After being released from jail Bapi first visited late Duroydhan Swain’s house at Samagola village and enquired the condition of the deceased’s kins.
It is noteworthy to mention that Bapi was arrested on December 23, 2011, for his alleged involvement in group clash between pro and anti Posco people during construction of a road in Paradip, in which one person named Duroydhan Swain had died and more than 15 people were injured.
