Dhenkanal: Two persons died, 25 injured and 250 families were rendered homeless in a major fire mishap in a cracker factory at Kansara village of Hindol in the district of Dhenkanal on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Lochan Amant (55) and his son Bulu Amant (18). As many as 25 persons were also injured. The injured have been admitted to a nearby government hospital and some were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCB MCH), Cuttack.
If the sources are to be believed, the fire brokedown during the cracker manufacturing process. However efforts were on to ascertain the circumstances that led to the mishap, sources said.
As the fire spread rapidly in the area, about 800 houses were gutted in the mishap.
Meanwhile, the administration has provisioned for cooked food items to be provided to the affected for three days. Apart from this compensation of Rs 12,000 will be provided to each family, Babaji Charan Das, ADM, Dhenkanal said.
Bishnu Prasad Panda, Collector, also visited the village and assured to initiate quick steps to provide relief and assistance to the affected people.
