New Delhi: Taking a strict note of the Pipili gangrape case, where the victim slipped into coma after being treated for snake bite, the National Commission for Scheduled Caste (NCSC) on Sunday has issued a notice to senior officials of the State and district officials to appear before them and submit an “action taken report” in the matter.
The notice was issued acting on the petition filed by Haladhar Sethi, Youth President, SC and ST Yuva Parishad.
The Commission has directed Odisha’s Director General of Police and the SP and DM of Puri District to appear personally before the panel on March 12.
It is noteworthy to mention that the 19-year-old girl was found in a semi-naked and unconscious condition in a paddy field in Arjungada village under the Pipili police station in Puri district on November 28 last year. Thereafter she was transferred from one hospital to another without proper diagnosis and treatment leading to her present condition now.
Earlier the State Government had ordered a judicial probe into the incident and a team of the National Commission for Women (NCW) probed into the incident.
