Suresh Mohapatra filing nomination on Tuesday
Cuttack: Senior leader and OPCC General Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra filed nomination for the March 18 by-poll to Athagarh assembly seat on Tuesday, accompanied by a large number of party workers and supporters.

Mohapatra filed five sets of papers in the office of the Sub-Collector on the day. Apart from this an independent candidate Subash Chandra Sahu has also filed his nomination papers for the polls on Tuesday.

The ruling BJD candidate and former Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain had already filed his papers on Monday. Apart from this an independent candidate Anam Mohapatra had also filed his nomination papers for the polls during the day.

However, the BJP which had decided to field local lawyer Bikram Dash in the fray has not filed his papers yet.

Before filing his papers, Mohapatra went to the local Dhabaleswar Temple and seeking blessings of the Lord, he offered pujas in the Temple.

Mohapatra accompanied by over 15,000 enthusiastic party workers and supporters then went in a colourful procession to file his papers.

OPCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik, Mahila Congress Chief Bijaylaxmi Sahu, Suresh Rautray, Kishore Chandra Patel accompanied Mohapatra.
