Bhubaneswar: Stage is all set for the five-day choreography festival of dance, ‘Samrachana’ which will commence from March 1 at Rabindra Mandap here.
The festival involving Odissi and other dance forms of the country is being organised for the first time in Odisha by Orissa Sangeet Natak Akademy, in collaboration with State Culture and Tourism Department and Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre.
During the five-day festival, the choreographers will share their innovative creativity and interpretation of their respective art form without sacrificing the classical purity.
Apart from Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mainipuri and contemporary choreography will be presented in the Indian dance tradition.
As per the programme, on the first day of the the five-day festival Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra of Srjan, Bhubaneswar will be performing Odissi dance drama ‘Ravana’. The second performance of the evening will be Kathak by Nirupama- Rajendra , the dynamic dancing couple of Abhinava Dance Company, Bangalore.
The second evening of the festival will witness Kuchipudi Performance ‘Stabdha’ by Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi from Shambhavi School of Dance, Bangalore. The second performance of the evening will be Odissi performance ‘Buddha Upakhsyana’ by Guru Durga Charan Ranbir of Nrutayan, Bhubaneswar.
The third evening of the festival will witness Odissi performance ‘Gatha Odissi’ by Guru Aruna Mohanty of Orissa Dance Academy and contemporary dance performance by Santosh Nair of Sadhya, New Delhi.
Guru Madhavi Mudgal of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi will give an Odissi performance ‘Ranga Stuti’ on the fourth evening which will be followed by Manipuri dance performance ‘Leichan’ by Bimbavati Devi of Manipuri Nartanalaya, Kolkata
The concluding evening of the festival will witness Bharatnatyam performance ‘Spanda’ by Guru Leela Samson of Kalakshetra, Chennai and Odissi performance ‘Gativilas’ by Guru Sharmila Biswas of Odissi Vision and Movement Centre Kolkata.
