Bhubaneswar: The State Level Annual Review Meeting, ‘Sameekshya-2011’ of the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP) was held at Hotel Pal Heights, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The meeting was inaugurated by B K Patnaik, Chief Secretary, Odisha and President of the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Society.
The Project is assisted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which has the twin objective of Restoring of Degraded Forests and improving the income level of the villagers by promoting Sustainable Forest Management and Community Tribal Development.
The main objective of the meeting was to review the progress of the project activities, to identify the issues to be addressed before implementation of the project and to exchange views amongst the staff members from the PMU, DMU and FMUs.
A ‘Photo Exhibition’ depicting various project activities in the Divisions was organised. In addition to that a display of the products of the SHGs supported by the Project was also organized.
Apart from this a booklet titled ‘Institutional Strengthening-Performance Assessment of the 3rd Batch VSS’, was released on this occasion. Prizes were also given to the best performing VSSs in each of eleven divisions on this occasion.
Among others Shri R. N Senapati, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Vice President of Odisha Forestry Sector Development Society, Shri Raj Kumar Sharma, IAS Principal Secretary, Department of Forest and Environment, Shri P. N Padhi, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Odisha and Shri J. D Sharma IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (WL) were present.
The meeting was attended by about 220 RCCFs, the DFOs of 14 Forest Divisions, the Range Officers, VSS Presidents and Animators and SHG Members.
