Dhamra: On the occasion of National Science Day celebrations, several competitions and an inter-school science exhibition were organised by Dhamra Port Company Ltd (DPCL) on Wednesday.
As many as ten high schools of Dhamra Port periphery areas participated in the competitions. The theme of this year’s National Science Day celebrations was “Clean Energy Options and Nuclear Safety” on which the school students prepared
posters and models for the science exhibition.
The students of BSC High School, Jantuali Nuagon won the First prize in the inter-school science exhibition by displaying a model of “Innovating Thermos-flask” prepared from locally available waste materials. The Dosinga
High School bagged the Second prize by preparing a model on hydraulic crane used for lifting of heavy weight materials.
The students of VN High School, Kaithakhola who had prepared a model, wherein mosquito coil and agarbati was prepared with the use of household waste materials got the third prize.
Chief Guest of the function Sri Debendra Mohapatra, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Bhadrak gave away the prizes to the winners.
In the poster competition, a class-IX student of JN High School, Kaithakhola, Master Muktikanta Mukhal got the prize. Ms. Ipsita Mohapatra, Deputy Collector of Bhadrak gave away the prize to the winner.
Apart from this the DPCL Merit Scholarship was also distributed among 13 meritorious students of Dhamra Port periphery schools.
Among others Mr. Prem Sinha, Vice-President (Operation and Maintenance) of DPCL and Mr. PK Jena, Secretary of Maa Dhamrai Fisherman Association were present on the occasion.
