Bhubaneswar: New trends and lavish lifestyle is propelling students to commit crimes. Five students of a private engeneering college near Barang were arrested on Sunday on the charge of committing dacoity in a passenger bus in Baramunda bus stand about a week ago.
The five students were identified as Priyabrata Panda, Siddharth Shankar Patnaik, Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, Gyanaranjan Mallick and Uma Shankar Rout. Except Priyabrata, the rest are teens. The students were living at a hostel near Ruchika market.
As per the report, police seized cash of around rupees 6,400 and 3 cell phones from them.
As per the sources, the students on February 27 went inside the ‘Nila Madhab’ bus parked in the stand. They terrorized the passengers by showing sharp weapons and ran away with the cash and mobile phones. The police was suspecting the students to be alcoholics but later conformed them as students.
