Puri: Political rivalry has revisited village Gambhari under Brahmagiri block in Puri district. Miscreants have torched at least 30 rooms of several houses while rivals hurled bombs at each other.

The entire village of Gambhari turned into a political battlefield once again. Shops and houses with asbestos roofs have been badly damaged.

Three platoons of police forces were posted in the village to control the situation and to maintain a strong vigil on the village.

In February last also the village witnessed violent clashes between the political rivals after the panchayat polls. More than 600 bombs and 150 rounds of bullets were fired during the fight which continued for two days. The fight left twelve people injured and fifty houses damaged.

Meanwhile police has initiated house to house search operation and has recovered 33 live bullets and five bombs from the village and has detained four persons in connection with the clash.
